I've wanted to try it for a while. I'll probably try it either at a good sashimi restaurant or on a "gourmet excursion" to S Korea next time I'm in Japan.

Over the last few years I've become much less freaked out by 'weird' food - but I still draw the line at eating insects and spiders. Bleaauurrgh.

I heard you have to swallow them quickly, elseway they stick to your larynx... it´s not a desirable quality for my meals.

Insects..I'm not so freaked out by...But Spiders..yeah..that's pretty much run through the forest screaming like a madman-inducing food.
But bottom line?
If I was hungry enough...Yeah...I'd eat 'em.

Was at a sashimi place in Kawasaki many years ago, and about freaked out when the guy at the table next to me was eating this. The freaky part was that he was sitting there talking on the phone and these tentacles started crawling over the side of his bowl. He kept catching them and flipping them back before they came out too far while he was talking. It weirded me out because it was my first time in Japan, and I had never even contemplated people eating something like that before.

Nope, didn't try it!

Isn't live octopus a delicacy in Korea? I'm pretty sure it is. Quite a few videos on youtube too.

Hah, I cooked some baby octopi tonight, but I can't imagine eating them raw. Much less, alive.

I imagine it must be pretty slimy.

I like octopus too but I prefer my food not to be moving as I try to eat it! There's a cheese that they do in Italy that is full of maggots. You eat the maggots along with the cheese!

The King of cheeses: Roquefort
The most tasty of all. Some people say it is horrible.

Me too! Apparently the larvae eats the cheese, digest it (breaks down the fat) and passes the byproduct (creamy looking cheesy thingy) out from the bottom. So it's essentially cheese with worm shit.

The problem is that the worms that do the shitting are still in the cheese when it is eaten!

I'm driving through Germany on Saturday to go skiing in Austria. Note to self - if offered anything that sounds like Milbenkaese say "Nein, danke" and run!
