Default Saimin
Hello folks! Long time, no post. I am just wondering if any of our Hawaiian brothers and sisters know of any recipes for saimin? Sounded good, but wanted to know how you would prepare it. Thanks!

Saimin = Ramen except you add choke toppings. I have a recipe at home I'll post next week but the basics are dashi or pork stock, noodles, char siu, and green onions.

Some people put it in. I don't. I only like spam when it's fried crunchy. Spam isn't very crunchy when you let it float around in soup.

Careful, you're talking about a prized Hawaiian delicacy. Obviously you've never had a spam musubi or spam won ton.

once youve seen 50 cubic feet of spam you wont think of it as a delicacy

i do agree that it tastes good when you fry it like bacon.

You know what would taste really good added into a bowl or Ramen?

A burrito.

I'm sure you based that mix on some expressionistic impulsion.

STOP!

What are we discussing here? What the chuff is "saimin"?

Is it a breakfast, or dinner, or a small breed of Hawaiian dog?

It's called cuisine.
Being British, I understand it is a nebulous concept for you.

I kid.

Saimin is a Hawaiian noodle soup which is loosely based upon Ramen.
Generally things which you would not think belong in soup..

I.e., Gyoza....Spam....a small shrubbery...

..go in the soup.

Truly multicultural.
It's good stuff!
