This may be a bit of an odd question. A friend of mine is rather large uh..."down there" (His FEET, you sickos...) and wears size 13 shoes. He recently asked me (no idea why...) if I knew a place that sold very large Geta, since even the "extra large" ones he found were only size 12s.
Any help from y'all? Failing that, how about something showing how to make them? Thanks |

You can try contacting http://www.karankoron.com/online_shop_top.html, they may do a custom order.

I wear a size 13 meself, and I'm here to tell you, it's darn near impossible to get Japanese *anything* in my size. Let alone Geta.
They do exist, however, they are uber rare. I have only found one pair, and they broke after a month under the Kenzilla's foot pressure. You might want to try Tatami Zori. The largest size generally is 11.75, which I can vouch are not a perfect fit, but acceptable, and will leave the heels only a tiny bit hanging over. Perhaps someone living in Japan who visits this forum can provide a better resource. |

I found a huge pair of tatami-zori at a roadside vender in the middle of no where in Kochi. That's all I wear in the summer and now they are starting to fall apart. Kenzan is right, I have to search to even find dress shoes in my size. Your not gonig to find anything in the US. If your in Japan go to the men's kimono section in a big department store like Hankyu, Daimaru, or Takashimaya and you may find geta in 13. If not they can put in an order.

Thanks everybody!
I will let him know he is probably out of luck...I suspected as much, I can't imagine there are too many Japanese folks clomping around in size 13s... You guys are fast...answers to any of my questions almost immediately. I shall aspire to some day be as fast as the rest of you. Thanks |

Alternatively, you could go to Akashi and order a couple of rounds of the local cuisine
