I wondered if anyone else watched American football.

Sod all those laterals, the one Frank Wycheck did against Buffalo (Music city miracle) is still the best one ever.

Shame I'm a Bills fan really...

Its just not the same without leveling the trombone player at the end though. The Play still rules. Here's the full context. BTW, the dented trombone is now in the College Football Hall of Fame. Who knew band was a full contact sport?

And it begins!

Go on, say those lines everyone who loves gridiron just can't wait to hear....

In first place:

I prefer rugby

In second place:

Why do they wear pads?

In third place:

But they don't kick the ball...

Football is actually a collective term for a lot of sports, it isn't actually just a term for 'soccer' (which is I'm told a term actually created by us English).

Go Bills!

Thank you for picking me up on that.....!

My apologies everyone, just been completely jittery since the Wembley game Sunday. All I've had for a fortnight is English American Football haters giving me stereo aggrivation...

Indeed, I think all your words were "created" by the English (although i think the actual uas should have been - " actually created by WE English).

Just thought I would be more pedantic than Tim

Take your average 6yr old Japanese kid.

Teach them the words FOOT and BALL. (back this up with a dictionary if need be)

Show them (proper) football.

They get it.

Show them American Football.

They are like "In American English does 'foot' mean 'hand' ?"

I say "Americans neither know their foot from their hand, nor their arse from their mouth' .... which satisfies the argument there and then.

p.s. this is lighhearted.... although argumentatively accurate

p,p.s. "America" includes the state of Canada too.

'yubi' could easy translate as 'digit'
