I learned to program in FORTRAN on punch cards, just so you know where to place me in the old fogie line.
I'm happy to say punch-cards were before my time.

'77 or -IV? I miss format statements...
You know, I don't even remember. That was 1978 so maybe it was '77? I don't miss FORTRAN at all, but I do miss programming in assembler which I haven't done in a good 10 years or more. For whatever twisted reason, I enjoyed handcrafting pipelined DSP code.

[I just thought that 'interweb' sounded funny]

I'm not very net based in my history; could never afford modems, ISP costs and such when I was a kid (It was all like Weird Science back then anyways). Did used to wonder what i could do with my Speccy though Spectrums were ace... or should the correct pluralisation be spectra??

Britain and America are two nations divided by the same language.... or some such [who made the observation originally; Winston Churchill, perhaps?]

I have a friend who is a systems analyst who now refers to WWW/interweb as the EtherNet.........

Ho hum.
