Take a look at the amazing footage shot by firefighters who found a koala after the fire, it had managed to escape with only a few burns - the little guy held out his paw and let people give it 3 bottles of water. Koalas are generally not friendly!! Try this link if no luck with the other one. Not sure if it will work though. http://player.video.news.com.au/pert...XGMnCtBmV7ZN48 My sincere condolences to those who were affected. |

In Melbourne today the air was very smokey from backburning. Actually the weather forecast for today was one word, "Smoke". My car was covered in ash and you could see it floating in tht air - it was like being back in Kagoshima. Last night the moon was blood red.
In some places the bushfire melted the glass in headlights. That puts the temperature of the fire at over 1400 degrees C. b |

Now I suppose this is kind of bushfire pr0n, but I think it gives the tiniest sense of what it was like to be in the way. I leave you to judge for yourselves the merits of the voiceover... But the audio at around 2:00 of the sound of the fire is what makes this simply jawdropping. That and the fact that it gives a clear wide shot of the speed and size of the fire's approach.
How many other people were videoing like this until it was too late, transfixed by the spectacle of the flames? b |
