Morning all.
Last night i went to a practice with a sister dojang of my school, and got a serious ringer of a men. Not having my head up combined with the kid being kinda a beginner resulted in a very painful few seconds, ringing, etc. However after that i felt fine. BUT that was followed by a horrible nights sleep, feeling really hot at times and, not hallucinating but i guess you could call them sleepy exaggerations? ![]() But after getting a little more sleep, I don't feel much like a zombie like i did when i first woke up, but my head still hurts. (it's not a pounding pain, but i just feel really delicate, and i have to move slowly as not to rattle my head too much. I know we have some medically knowledgeable people on KW, so does it sound like i have a minor concussion? or is there something else wrong with me? |

am NOT a qualified medical person, but if you are worried get your arse down to casualty (ER) or seek professional medical advice, better safe than sorry or worst
any "diagnosis" done even on these forums, can only be done circumstantially at best a qualifed person would need to see you in person to make an accurate diagnosis if you are a "kid", speak to your parents, because they will be able to help |

I agree with the others...
For what it's worth, what you've described sounds a lot like what I've experienced when I've had concussions. I've also experienced dizziness, nausia, and loss of vision. As I understand it, you're recommended not to sleep if you have a concussion... you might not wake up. |

It can be any part of the head, and it doesn't have to be a hit, it can be caused by a violent shake too. In simplistic terms it's caused by sudden movement of the brain causing rotational forces or twisting forces in the brain tissues. Not sufficient for physical permanent damage, but enough to affect normal functioning to a greater or lesser degree. Usually rights itself in 2-3 weeks depending on seriousness.

I'm glad you went to see the Dr.
I hope this clears up relatively quickly. Be patient with yourself, however the affects of even a mild concussion can linger on. A good friend of mine had a minor concussion falling from her horse (well the horse 'helped her off a bit too'), and had headaches of varying severity on and off for over a year later. Best of luck. |
