I'm running 10 k for Arthritis on Nov 14. If any of you would like to sponsor me, you can do it here. Thanks for your support for a good cause!

This is coming up next weekend. So far, not many sponsors. But you can help change all that!

Runners are crazy! I make it a point to never run unless someone is chasing me with a stick. Then it better be a large fellow and a big stick!

C'mon folks, lets toss a few bucks in. If he's crazy enough to go running for fun, we ought to be crazy enough to support the cause!

+rep for the donation, thank you very much! Edited original, it's actually next weekend. I'm getting thrown on my head in a judo tournament this weekend. So, double crazy.

I used to run 4 miles a day, that usually took about 45 minutes. Quit when I realized how hard it was on my knees, figured I needed them to last me a bit for kendo. Threw in a few for a good cause, plus willingness to sacrifice knees, plus awesome posts.

Thanks for the donation! Actually as I undertook to run my first half-marathon this past summer, I found my knees getting stronger. I never thought they could last past 12 or 13 km, but now I routinely run 20+ with no trouble. Turns out if you build it up gradually and listen to your body, they adapt and get stronger.

Jeez, Pg was right. I did enjoy the benefits of 4 a day, but I could never run that much. Maybe I am just being overly cautious; maybe if I just find the right track and some good shoes I'll end up fine. Suppose I could give it another shot. Sorry to drag this kinda off topic. Thanks for the help, Neil and good luck with the donations.

4 miles a day is about 45 km/week. At peak training I was running 45-50/week but only 5 runs/week with one long run and the rest shorter. Perhaps you just went at it too hard? Your body needs some recovery time. For the purposes of kendo, 3 shorter (30-45 min) runs/week would be fine and way easier on you.

Thanks for your support, Paul and Joe! We had a beautiful day for the run, and it was a lot of fun. Garmin says the course was a bit short: 9.8 km in 44:40. So I met my goal of breaking 45, but not really. All to a good cause, anyways.
