I suppose I agree. I mean, I don't believe Buddha was on vulture peak, emanating light, teaching gods. He might have existed or not. I don't particularly care. Buddhism puts forward an ideal that I believe could make the world a better place, so whether Buddha was real or not isn't a concern for me.
I'd be interested to see more, for sure. Side note: I am aware that taking a secular approach to Buddhism makes some Buddhists uncomfortable, but The Buddha did prefer that somebody disagree with him if they did not experience what The Buddha claimed, as opposed to taking his word for it and just having faith. |
