Default AN 9.31 Anupubbanirodha Sutta
I found this sutta described somewhere - and thought I'd post it here to see if anybody had such a thing to express about any of it. AN 9.31 -Anupubbanirodha Sutta: Step by step Stopping "Monks, you will find these eight step by step stoppings. Which eight? "When one has achieved the very first jhāna, the notion of sensuality has been ended. When you've got achieved the 2nd jhāna, focused ideas & critiques [verbal fabrications] have now been ended. When one has achieved the 3rd jhāna, rapture has been ended. When you've got achieved the next jhāna, in-and-out breaths [bodily fabrications] have now been ended. The notion of forms has been ended, when one has achieved the measurement of the infinitude of space. The notion of the dimension of the infinitude of space has been ended, when one has achieved the dimension of the infinitude of mind. When one has achieved the dimension of nothingness, the notion of the dimension of the infinitude of mind has been ended. When one has achieved the dimension of neither-perception nor non-perception, the notion of the dimension of nothingness has been ended. When you've got achieved the cessation of sensation & belief, ideas & emotions [mental fabrications] have now been ended. "These would be the eight step-by-step stoppings." http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipit....031.than.html
