Default Awesome fun game - identify an artist's Pele.
It's well-known that every artist's career must have a certain watershed marked by their Pele. Let's identify them.

BRITNEY SPEARS - Blackout

Britney's journey through Blackout is that of a woman dying inside (reflected in the hollow vocals). Blackout is her attempt to piece herself together and find something to fill that void, lamenting the inability of men to measure up (Toy Soldier). Undaunted, she flirts with excess and finds herself being commodified for her sexuality (Gimme More). Eventually, as in Pele, she reaches a satisfying conclusion with Why Should I Be Sad, realising that there will be life after the emotional trauma she has experienced.

^ Omg that is so true.

Of course Adz is Sufjan's Pele, where he battles demons that haunted him when he was young - his fear of volcanos (Vesuvius) is an obvious reference to Pele.

His heart has been broken but that doesn't mean he will let it get him down when he can discover electricity and have a dance party. The Macbook is his harpsichord, and he revells in the blips, and weird sounds while searching for his own voice again. This means his voice travels through various filters and the use of autotune as a musical device represents his quest for his sense of self recovering after a mysterious illness. Where Tori ventured into the realm of Lucifer through the use of mind altering substances and a shaman in South America, Sufjan's mind travelled from his sickbed and he began to focus on himself instead of telling the stories of others.

The playing with the listener about what gender he loves in Impossible Soul is totally the new "are you gay, are you blue"? - "boy we can do much more together"... And just look at how he sings "I Want To Be Well" over and over - it's just like the theme of renewal and rebirth that we see in Pele from "Way Down" onwards. there's nowhere else to go but up.

He might not be sitting on a chair with a gun in his lap on the cover, but we all know Sufjan has guns. And who wouldn't sit in his lap?

Disagree - it's totally "Selmasongs" where the Woman We Call Bjork became the woman we call Selma who hears music in everything and finds a new soundworld to become her "new world". She doesn't need the mind altering drugs as that's her everyday dreamland state which brings those songs into being. Her heart isn't broken - her life is. The self sacrifice is even more powerful than standing at the edge of a volcano, as she's throwing herself in. I mean, "new world" is totally Putting The Damage on with strings, and Cvalda is like Blood Roses crossed with Professional widow and Horses - "slag pit stag shit" - "clatter crash bang". "off with superfly" = "Faster than a shooting star".

I can't believe I never saw it before.

The best thing of this record is the cover: it's like "oh yeah, the blonde one, who gives a shit about her? Let's put it behind, let's blur her face and nobody will remember her!". In the inner pictures her face is always blurred too (yes, I have the cd, that why I know that)

Just when nobody believed in Kate Bush anymore, she release her Pele in 1985 and named it Hounds of Love. A woman we call kate found her archetypal drowning witchwoman in the sea and found herself doing opium to save her life. She then released her The Beekeeper with The Red Shoes and was never ever heard from again. Fin.

They sacrificed the ginger one (volcano reference) yet stuggled on while missing the part that many people thought was their fire (PELE) opening their difficult third album with lyrics that neatly summarise the whole first half of pele:

I wanna make you holler
And hear you scream my name
I'll give you rules to follow
So you can play my game
Imagine us together
Me driving you insane
You will give into me
Don't be afraid to play my game Of course, the album closes with "goodbye" which plays with the same emotions we see closing Pele - saying farewell with a sense of resignation :

Goodbye my friend
(I know you're gone, you said you're gone, but I can still feel you here)
It's not the end
(Gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)
So glad we made it, time will never change it, no no no this could be a missing verse of Marianne and Twinkle mixed together Just a little girl, big imagination
Never letting no one take it away
Went into the world (Into the world), what a revelation
She found there's a better way for you and me to be
