It's well-known that every artist's career must have a certain watershed marked by their Pele. Let's identify them.
BRITNEY SPEARS - Blackout ![]() Britney's journey through Blackout is that of a woman dying inside (reflected in the hollow vocals). Blackout is her attempt to piece herself together and find something to fill that void, lamenting the inability of men to measure up (Toy Soldier). Undaunted, she flirts with excess and finds herself being commodified for her sexuality (Gimme More). Eventually, as in Pele, she reaches a satisfying conclusion with Why Should I Be Sad, realising that there will be life after the emotional trauma she has experienced. |
