It was marvelous. I don't have much time right now, but I will say that I was struck with how much her voice has improved - how strong it is, how much control she has over it. You can especially hear that on the older songs.

Oh, and she played a full 100 minutes, encoring with a stunning "Baby Birch". Everyone in the band, most of all her, were looking spiffy. I felt underdressed. And she was adorably sweet and chatty all night. At one point, while band members were getting ready for the next song and there was a lull, she comes out with, "So, what did you all think of Inception?" (She liked it.)

So yeah, great night.

I just witness Joanna Newsom duet with Robin Pecknold on a cover of Kid Rock's "Picture," along with 2 Newsom cousins dancing around the stage.

YEP. Hometown show!

I wanted to go to that show so bad, Peter. Alas, it wasn't in the budget due to some unexpected expenditures. I hope it was recorded!

Oh Christ I totally could have gone to the L.A. Show if I had known! Now there are all of 15 seats left (according to ticketmaster) and I'm sorry Joanna, I'm not driving 80 miles so I can sit in the furthest possible corner of the theatre.

The setlist from last night (Seattle):

'81
Have One on Me
Easy
Cosmia
Soft as Chalk
In California
Inflammatory Writ
Autumn
Good Intentions Paving Co.
Emily
Peach, Plum, Pear
Baby Birch (encore)

I was actually really impressed by the show - it was so casual and all about the music which was outstandingly performed. No duet with Robin Pecknold though.

There wasn't a song between In California and Inflammatory Writ, was there? I don't remember there being one.

The show was soooooo good. Cosmia made me SOB. And the new arrangement of Peach Plum Pear blew my mind. There needs to be an official recording of that one.

Is that setlist in order? How strange that she would plan a setlist that would have her dashing from harp to piano so frequently. When I saw her, all the piano songs were together in the setlist.

Yep, it's in order, she was constantly going back and forth from harp to piano.

I was supposed to get a ticket for Dublin, but was too poor when the tickets went on sale.

However, a friend of mine knows one of the staff members in the Theatre and snagged herself a front row ticket. Bitch!
