Is that what they tell you in Russia?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Cup_of_Hockey

There was no World Cup of Hockey since 2004. When Canada won, and Russia was not even a medalist.

I felt there is something wrong. Ok, I've took WC for a World Cup instead of World Championship (as it is in Russian). But it's nothing more than a language barrier.

The IIHF World Championship is utterly worthless, as discussed.

The World Cup is slightly more important (it contained the highest calibre players on each side), like the Olympics.

I do remind you that your claim about Russia dominating all major international play is seriously hampered when you consider Canada has won 2 of the last 3 major "highest-calibre-player" tournaments?
Such "highest-calibre-player" tournaments exist only in Asherverse for a pathetic excuse for not wining a real international tournaments like seniour WC and Olympics.
The simple facts are whenever we meet you at Olympic - we beat ya (Not to mention WC - ok, you don't consider a SENIOR WC to be a serious tournament for your own pathitic excuses, but at the same time a JUNIOR WC is pretty fine tournament in your book:crazy.

The overall statistic of Russia-Canada encounters at Olympics is 8:1 (or 9:1, I don't recall exactly now and too lazy for google, but more likely it's 9:1 after 2006) in OUR favour.
Eat this.
Now try to diminish that simple fact by bullsh!ting us about how junior WC are more respected tournaments than Olympics and the same crap you are a king of.
Please, keep self-destructing (c).

Oh, wait a second. I just get it.
You were talking about women hockey as one of the "highest-calibre-player" tournaments, right?

WOW! That was really your last resort, dude.

.

Kids and girls - that's everything what Canada can be proud of in hockey!

MUAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Now you are completely self-destructed!

Oh, be serious.

The only time these tournaments say anything is when the best from each country go up and play against eachother.

When the tournaments take place, for example, DURING THE NHL PLAYOFFS...the best hockey players in the world are NOT playing. Which means the games are far from decisive. They're meant only for casual amusement only, nothing to take seriously.
DON'T YOU HAVE A BREAK IN NHL PLAY-OFFs when the OLYMPICS?

I did not once mention women in this thread.
In this case, would you please explain what did you mean by saying this:

Canada has won 2 of the last 3 major "highest-calibre-player" tournaments

You are really losing it, my friend. :shamenod: Anyone with a half-functioning brain can do a simple google check and see that Russia beat Canada at the last senior WC held in Canada in 2008; beat Canada at the last Olympics in 2006; lost to Canada at the last JUNIOR WC held in Canada in 2008; beat Canada throughout the entire Olympic history 8 or 9 times (vs. a single defeat) and then make his own conclusion about who is ACTUALLY LOSING IT.

Yes, which is why I said the Olympics is a very relevant tournament and I lamented the fact that Hockey Canada massively ****ed up the team selection last time.
A pitty excuses, as always.
Not just the last time. WE PWN YOU 8 or 9:1 in OVERALL STATISTIC.

Basically that means we PWN you almost EVERYTIME WE MEET AT OLYMPICS (nine times out of ten).

Try to deny that (thus you will force me to do a google search and find you a link, which I don't want to, 'cause I know that I am absolutely RIGHT here (and you know that too, 'cause we already talked about that, and I've already gave you that link).

The IIHF is to the hockey world what MiGs are today to modern militaries -- amusing distractions.

Wow! You mean a tournament that appeared from nowhere and which future and importance is quite uncertain?
It's a tournament that dates back to 1976...

You really do know nothing of hockey.

Hint: Before 96, it was called the "Canada Cup". That's how awesome we are.

That was exactly what I meant by saying it's appeared from nowhere (from the dark ages I meant). You may consider it as another atribute of the cold war. It completely lost its meaning now - just a bunch of friendlies.
It was far more competitive and meaningful than these IIHF games. Both countries sent their best players, unlike the IIHF games.

:LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL:::
That's why it wasn't held between 1996 to 2004? And will not be held untill 2011 now? And don't tell me we sent our best players in 1996 and 2004 - you'll give me another big laugh then. Face it dude, - IT'S nothing more than just a BUNCH OF FRIENDLIES BETWEEN A SECOND GRADE PLAYERS.
It's nothing of it has been in times of Cold War. Just a frienfly tournament, nobody cares about (aside world championship).

Asher must've convinced the Canadian side that the title wasn't very important. Again.

This is a fact. No one in Canada cares about this. Note how the NHL Playoff threads are active and this is a ghost-town except for the trolls of Serb...

It's a meaningless championship no one pays attention to outside of Russia.
