FARC controls a good deal of that action. |

I think Colombia has 45 million people, Venezuela 27 million and Ecuador 10 million.
If the war were Venezuela + Ecuador vs Colombia it would be interesting, Venezuela because of the oil is much wealthier than Colombia, they have a bigger gdp altough the population is much smaller. Also, the Venezuelan military is quite good, and it is the only leftist military in south america, they are left wing nationalists. When Franco was alive ETA used to hide in France (that even has happened till not so long ago), and the French would do nothing about it. Even if FARC was hiding in the Ecuatorian jungle, Colombia shouldnt have invaded Ecuatorian territory to hunt the terrorists. If Ecuador werent much weaker than Colombia, I think they would have declared war, and it wouldnt be unjustified. Chavez certainly will not tolerate an expeditionn of Colombian forces into venezuelan territory, it would be war 100% |

I hate FARC and I wish Colombia would exterminate them all
But no one likes a neighbour country´s army making surprise raids in your territory. And I dont think Ecuador supports FARC, it is completely possible that FARC was there and that the Ecuador gov knew nothing about it, it is all jungle, no one lives there. |

BTW, there wont be a war, at least not one started by Venezuela or Ecuador
- The colombian army is much much larger than the venezuelan one -The colombian army is very experienced after decades of fighting FARC, it is also better trained, and has better weapons than the venezuelan one -Chavez popularity has fallen the last year in Venezuela, he used to be loved by 65% of the population and hated by the rest, now it is 50%-50% -Venezuela imports much food from Colombia -Fighting Colombia would mean directly or indirectly fighting the USA too -Venezuelans dont want a war against Colombia It is all "show" by Chavez basically |

Do you even know the first thing about how markets work? There would be a panic. Yeah, thats why I said spike. A humiliating defeat at the hands of primarily fellow South Americans with a little US air power thrown in means no more Chavez and thus a properly run oil industry. Or in other words, lower oil prices long term.
Honestly, how long could a border war like that last? Chavez can't aford a protracted military campaign even if the US doesn't get involved. |

Back down from their antagonistic relations with their neighbors and apologize profusely... if they apologize profusely won't that provide more incentive for FARC to continue sheltering in neighboring countries? Apologizing is the last thing Colombia should do. It should instead issue a statement of regret for any misunderstanding on the part of the Venezuelan and Ecuadorian governments. |
