Default Do you know a cool airplane-related song?
The Letter by the Box Tops is the classic...

Leaving on a Jet Plane doesn't fit the theme that Monk wants.

He doesn't know when, but he hopes he can return. So he isn't leaving it all, because he'll always have her and hopes that she'll be waiting for him:

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that youll wait for me
Hold me like youll never let me go
cause Im leavin on a jet plane
Dont know when Ill be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

And Hi Monk!

Talking Heads' "Big Country" (from More Songs about Buildings and Food) is a song narrated by a guy on an airplane, looking down on middle America and being glad he doesn't live there; it ends with him saying he just wishes he would get where he's going already. It may not fit your theme exactly, but it's a great song.

This has been another "Musical Moment" with Grandpa Firefly. Now back to our discussion...

Hey, I'm a 70s-music geek, not an airplane geek.

"Yes, we have no bananas" comes to mind, but that one is half Norwegian, half English and just a funny 80s song that doesn't fit your criteria I think.

"Fly me to the moon", Frank Sinatra?

"I believe I can fly", by some bloke?

"One way ticket", um, I quess that's about trains...

"Aeroplane", by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel has a verse about aeroplanes, and bumper cars...

Dosen't quite fit, except maybe ironically, but, what the hell?

Seems It Never Rains In Southern California Lyrics

IT NEVER RAINS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
ALBERT HAMMOND

Got on a board a west bound seven forty seven
Didn't think before deciding what to do
All that talk of opportunities, TV breaks and movies
Rang true, sure rang true.

Seems it never rain in Southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya
It pours man it pours.
Out of work, I'm out of my head
Out of self respect I'm out of bread
I'm under loved I'm under fed
I wanna go home
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya, it pours, man it pours.

Will you tell the folks back home I nearly made it
Had offers but don't know which one to take
Please don't tell them how you found me
Don't tell them how you found me give me a break
Give me a break

Seems it never rains in Southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya
It pours man it pours
