Default Viedo playback
You need to play DVD movies too, or only videos from files?

Maybe what you need is the mplayer?

Type 'mplayer download' in google and make up your choice.

A codec? Why? DVD's only use MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, which ought to be included in Windows...

The DVD decoder is patented or somesuch, and thus it is not precisely free. I'm not entirely sure how the 'free' dvd players operate, but most of them cost a small amount of money in royalty payments (such as Vista) to the DVD patent holder.

Eh, I thought they included that in WMP and the royalty was part of the price.
