I harbor the mistaken impression that occasionally, just occasionally, a chance exists for me to genuinely either correct someone's views or have my own corrected.

Unfortunately, neither occurs often, though I've changed positions after an online debate before.

There are some posters, however, whose threads I typically don't bother to open, because I know that not only will they be rather lame, but the poster is chronically unfunny too. Bad threads by funny posters are ok though.

PUrely by topic, sometimes because certain poster has submitted the thread. Most by topic though. I open perhaps... 30% of threads at some point.

For one reason or another, Slowwy, Plato, Ogie, and others repeatedly spew out personal attacks against Oerdin but they keep opening his threads, reading his posts, and then posting their own replies to Oerdin.
