I harbor the mistaken impression that occasionally, just occasionally, a chance exists for me to genuinely either correct someone's views or have my own corrected.
Unfortunately, neither occurs often, though I've changed positions after an online debate before. There are some posters, however, whose threads I typically don't bother to open, because I know that not only will they be rather lame, but the poster is chronically unfunny too.
