Default IRL Yu-Gi-Oh
Basically I've been thinking about this: I have spent at least 150$ on Yugioh in the past 4 months. Is that abnormal? Even if it isn't I think its a little bit much to spend on a card game. I'm wondering if I should stop collecting/buying packs IRL. I'd still keep a deck or two of course, and I love the game too much to quit... Any advice guys? I mean I really think I could be saving money for other things and play this game strictly online or occasionally with friends.

150 per 4 months is good. Just get cards when you need to. And yeah, most people spend a tad bit more than you, save me, in which I have spent less in the past year (last things I actually bought was Shooting Star tin, LC02, about $40 at regs for various things, and $45 for quasar and a mat).

I wish I could afford to spend that much on ygo per month.

Alas, I have other things I have to spend money in.

I spend about $20-40 per month. I randomly withdraw $20 out of my account and buy boosters. And because it's Christmas I'll be spending a lot like I did with my b-day money (I jumpstarted my dueling career last June with b-day money lol). I already ordered $45 worth with an Amazon gift card to finish my Wind-Up Main Deck (6 unreleased cards remaining) and a few Extra Deck monsters. And with 2 checks I got I'll keep buying PHSW until I get the Zenmaines I need.

You're better off spending that money on singles.

Trust me, that's not much to how much I've spent in the past 3 months.

When I used to play IRL, when I first started out my collection, while working part time at the hobby shop getting a discount mind you, I spent anywhere from 300 to 400 a month on Yugioh. After 4 months I had a decent collection to start actually trading stuff out and making profit. So needless to say, I made my money back, especially when I quit. (I sold my entire collection for 4200. It was like 5 monster binders worth of everything.) So 150 isn't too much if you plan on continuing playing irl, as long as you don't have any other priorities. But singles are the best thing you can buy if you're looking to get a trading collection going.

As long as you spend your money intelligently, there's really no issue IMO.
If you are buying cards to make decks, I would first try them out online intensively, if you still like it, the go ahead and make it irl.
Making decks online stopped me from spending my money on cards I would later regret.

I spend about $350 a month. Honestly if you are spending less than that you're just a poverty player bro. and by bro I mean never my bro.
