then take the DG approach and just ban the trolls. YOu've spent almost no time on DG so I know you're stuck in your perception of the site, but its a better model than the rigid alternatives.
But your site is all trolls....?

No but seriously, my sarcasm eludes you somewhat. I've been browsing DG for years, with seldom posting. The most I post there is if I am actually dueling. I don't go actively posting because most of your memberbase is members that I banned from here because they got butthurt about rule enforcement. Which for the most part was always avoidable.

Then again I could always say perception is everything, but I dont necissarily agree with that outlook. Its alot like stereotyping.
This is true.

But once again brings up my point: pick a demographic and stick with it.

However you decide to make your board, you need to decide what you want it to be. Know who you're marketting towards, and make that your focus. If you pull a Grant and constantly change the board to appeal to every niche thing, you wind up cheapening the entire community.
I guarantee there will be no awesome site destroying.

Maybe I am not exactly putting it in the right words...

Whatah, I love the advice. That actually got the wheels turning again. thanks.

Yeah I didn't get your sarcasm, and apparently I still don't as you're making a statement to reinforce your 'sarcasm' and to solidify my point on your detachment of perception. I don't think you've had a forum successful enough to have banned half the people we have active.

Just remember, rules need a function and purpose, many people tend to make rules because they're the norm without fundamentally figuring out why they're there.

Just because i enforced them, did not mean they were mine. Just sayin.

I will probably be able to finally start putting some real effort into this within the next few weeks once work slows down again and I don't feel like drinking myself into a coma every day.

DGZ has actually relaxed in its nature over time. There would of been times where I would of agreed with Sentinels opinions of place, but not now.

What would you want to exactly focus your forum on praytell?

Still, you need to pick a demographic and stick with it.
^ I am 'very' adamant about that point.

Still understand you. Still deciding what I want that to be though. Patience, young Cradling.

As of the next week or so, I should actually be able to return to being an active member. Either that or I will catch up on tons of Warcraft time being missed. Probably the later first, with more of the previous upcoming.

And yes, I did think about a Warcraft forum....then i started to change my mind when I realized how truly awful an idea that would be.

Giving this a shameless bump as I am gonna start messing with the idea again. When I posted this, I had some bad stuff happen. My vacation time has tied up those loose ends, besides finding a new job, and I am thinking about making this happen.

Collabing with a friend on it right now. Still working out the demographic now. Gonna pick up a free board to test ideas out on first. Also to sorta serve as a means of re-learning simple **** I forgot.

I have also been browsing DGz more often now thanks to Ash. Also checked out some sites that were linked/recommended.

Demographics aside, any other board ideas anyone has are still welcome. After seeing some stuff here, and other sites, I see why banning religion/political based topics would be reasonable. Never realized how many stubborn asses were out there til now.

Wouldn't be suprised.

Picked up an IF forum for a "notepad" basically. That and its what I started with when I learned this stuff in the past. Gonna tinker with that, then upgrade to something better.

You are an exception. The only exception.

I will gladly go over this in detail if you would like. Just not here.

Basically I am just touching up on what most everyone else has said.

I would enjoy to get actively involved in a forum that targets an older (than this forum's) age group. A place to meet some cool people who know what they are talking about in the section they are discussing it.
Personally the only reason why I still sign onto this site (whenever I do) is to keep in touch with just a few people. I doubt I will meet anyone new here and actually befriend them, since I have absolutely no connection to yugioh.

I would also be willing to lend you a hand in moderating if you need any extra help.

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a side project that involves custom press release distribution. I'm looking for advice on the best practices for creating and distributing press releases tailored to specific audiences.

If anyone has experience with this or knows of any tools or services that specialize in custom distribution, I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks for your help!
