That's a great article. The thing that really bothered me about these protests was the recurring 99% vs 1% theme. Whenever I hear that, I think of an out of control mob destroying everything in its path, ultimately being used by occultists who understand how to leverage such natural cycles of events. It doesn't come off as a conscious uprising.
The other thing is, this was definitely funded by someone. We all watched this unfold, and a key element of it was free food and things like that. Otherwise, it would have dissolved after not too long like any other protest. Also, what was with the secret wikileaks truck no one could go inside? live video? I understand that such extreme 'paranoia' is self defeating and nothing can ever come about with that outlook. But at the same time, I see traces of money more than impassioned individuals. The beginning of the article was eerie indeed. I can't read it all now, but look forward to it. |

I think of an out of control mob destroying everything in its path, ultimately being used by occultists who understand how to leverage such natural cycles of events This is just disgusting. The only thing that gives me a tiny bit of hope is that we're all aware of this. Most people on gsus will probably agree with the author of that article. And I don't think I'm so special that others can't figure it out. Back during the Bolshevik Revolution, perhaps fewer people did or could know what was really going on. Perhaps our awareness of this will cause it not to happen. Like all those doom threads that never happen....sometimes I wonder if it wasn't publicized, if it would have in fact happened. |

Here is an interesting thing:
Sweden had this financial transaction tax between 1984 and 1992, created by the then long ruling socialist government. A new government had been elected in 1992, that pledged to get rid of this tax, and they did so immediatelly as they came to power... Same autumn the Swedish krona, that a few years prior had their value tied into the european exchsnge rate mechanism (ERM a predecessor to the Euro), came under pressure from international currency speculators led by George Soros, that said the Swedish Krona was overvalued, cheered on by the Swedish and international business press... The central bank of Sweden had to raise the short term interest rate up to 500% and they sold all their foreign currency reserves to defend the Swedish Krona, but to no avail under the hailstorm of speculation against it. The government threw in the towel, conceded defeat to the speculators, the krona almost instantly devalued by 20% against the Major European currencies. Sweden lost several billion dollars to Soros et al, was plunged into a deep recession that it didn't emerge from until late 90's. One of the good things in hindsight though, was that the Swedish population rejected joining the Euro in a referendum in the late 90's, despite heavy propaganda for it from the establishment (both political and economical)... At the time I only thought George Soros did this for the money, but it seems like he may have wanted to punish the Swedes for getting rid of his pet project. |

Group to Call for 'Robin Hood Tax' at Protests Saturday
An anti-capitalist group which sparked the Occupy Wall Street movement has called for global protests Saturday to demand that leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) nations impose a "Robin Hood tax" on financial transactions and currency trades. Canada-based Adbusters wants the Occupy Wall Street protest movement against economic inequality to take to the streets to call for a 1 percent tax on such deals ahead of a Nov. 3-4 summit of the G20 leading economies in France. "Let's send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3 trillion easy money that's sloshing around the global casino each day—enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world," the activist group said on its website, www.adbusters.org. Adbusters put out the initial call for Occupy Wall Street and since protesters set up camp in a park in New York City's financial district on Sept. 17, they have inspired solidarity demonstrations and so-called occupations around the world. Thousands turned out for a global day of protests on Oct. 15, which were mostly peaceful apart from Rome, where there were riots. Occupy Arrests, a Twitter feed compiling arrests related to Occupy Wall Street, said that since the movement began five weeks ago nearly 2,400 people have been arrested around the world, including in New York City. Occupy Wall Street prides itself on not having any leaders and doing everything by consensus at daily general assemblies. Adbusters has asked protesters to approve its plan for a "Robin Hood tax" and global protests at their general assemblies. The proposal by Adbusters comes as some people question whether the movement can sustain momentum and and ask what will happen next. Critics accuse the group of not having a clear message. "As the movement matures, let's consider a response to our critics," Adbusters said on its website. "Let's occupy the core of our global system. Let's dethrone the greed that defines this new century." The protesters say they are upset that the billions of dollars in bank bailouts doled out during the recession allowed banks to resume earning huge profits, while average Americans have had no relief from high unemployment and job insecurity. They also believe the richest 1 percent of Americans do not pay their fair share in taxes. Occupy Wall Street is urging protesters to close their bank accounts and transfer their money to credit unions, a move that is due to culminate with a bank transfer day on Nov. 5. http://www.cnbc.com/id/45019789 |

Oct. 29 #RobinHood Global March We take from the rich and give to the poor. 368 comments Adbusters , 17 Oct 2011 Share ![]() robinhoodtax.org This article is available in:
ADBUSTERS TACTICAL BRIEFING #15 Alright you redeemers, rebels and radicals out there, We're living through a magical moment … #OCCUPYWALLSTREET has catalyzed into an international insurgency for democracy … the mood at our assemblies is electric … people who go there are drawn into a Gandhian spirit of camaraderie and hope for a new kind of future. Across the globe the 99% are marching! You have inspired more than you know. People are digging into Act One of the long Spring. Its now time to amp up the edgy theatrics … deviant pranks, subversive performances and playful détournements of all kinds. Open your insurrectionary imagination. Anything, from a bottom-up transformation of the global economy to changing the way we eat, the way we get around, the way we live, love and communicate … be the spark that sustains a global revolution of everyday life! As the movement matures, lets consider a response to our critics. Lets occupy the core of our global system. Lets dethrone the greed that defines this new century. Lets work to define our first great demand. OCTOBER 29 – #ROBINHOOD GLOBAL MARCH This is a proposal for the general assemblies of the Occupy movement. Eight years ago, on February 15, 2003, upwards of 15 million people in sixty countries marched together to stop President Bush from invading Iraq … a huge chunk of humanity lived for one day without dead time and glimpsed the power of a united people's movement. Now we have an opportunity to repeat that performance on an even larger scale. On October 29, on the eve of the G20 Leaders Summit in France, let's the people of the world rise up and demand that our G20 leaders immediately impose a 1% #ROBINHOOD tax on all financial transactions and currency trades. Let's send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3-trillion easy money that's sloshing around the global casino each day – enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world. Take this idea to your local general assembly and join your comrades in the streets on October 29. for the wild, Culture Jammers HQ occupywallstreet.org / 29october.net / occupytogether.org / Facebook / Twitter PS. Ok, I posted a comment, we'll see how long it stays up:
http://www.adbusters.org/blogs/adbus...#comment-35522 This is just a George Soros backed front-group to push through his financial transaction tax. We aren't stupid. If you really want to hurt the bankers, lets talk about the real issues: central banks, usury, fractional reserve banking |
