I just noticed the calendar tab, with some old events posted on it. Do folks on the forum ever get together or have some sort of event?

I'm not sure if I'd advocate that or not. I"m simply curious.

On one hand, I think that these forums work because people can be anonymous. An event may interfere with that.

On the other hand, maybe people would benefit from something more personal.

I really don't know...just wondered if it had ever been done.

I don't know of any. The site works because it is anonymous. Don't think that change will happen.

I like the anonymous nature of this site. Now there are a few people that I have met on other sites that I maintain relationships in the real world. I have never met them face to face but we talk regularly. I am very cautious now, too many game players.

I know that there are other members on this board that live in the same state I do or close by in neighboring states. I had contemplated contacting some of them to see if they wanted to get together, but I’ve never done it for two reasons.

First, I like the anonymity. Secondly, I don’t know that it would be a good idea based on the nature of the meeting. Conversations will come up, things will get brought out and emotions can run high. It is not something I would want to deal with in a public setting.

If someone organized something would I go? I don’t know for sure, but I’d say probably not. I’ve gone to other meets before for other message boards I’m on or blogmeets for bloggers. The difference is that I bring my entire family to those. I don’t think I’d do that for one from this board.

I think you are all correct -- that this forum wouldn't work as well if not for the anonymous nature of it.
