There are so many rare, beautiful treasures on YouTube - jazz and otherwise - that we don't even bother posting our finds here anymore. But here's a web site I came across that enhances the YouTube viewing experience and also opens up exploring some of the other video sites out there. YouTube's best known but there are others. Some even better.
Go to chime.tv. Enter search terms in the field at the bottom and forget about getting anything done for the rest of your day. Try the FULLSCREEN mode. That, in combination with clicking the PLAYLIST tab to get rid of it, turns your monitor into a TV. |

brian, i got turned onto these about 2 months ago and i was wondering if one can watch them on youboob too? they are 9 different and amazing black and white films of ella, chet baker, count basie, dizzy, blakey, monk, buddy rich, satchmo, and quincy jones.. i have watched 6 of the 9 and they are awesome.. i was wondering whether others knew about these, but since you are mentioning this, i thought i would bring it up.

This being the internet, what I posted two days ago is of course now obsolete. Here's another multi-site video searcher, uLinkx. The site looks more like YouTube than chime.tv but appears to search more places . . . for now anyway.
The nice thing about it is your ability to bookmark and create playlists from multiple sites and view them all in one place. |
