That's the best picture I have to far. It's so difficult though. Every time I put any pressure on the eyepiece is moves and buggers the focus.

Moon was very, bright and clear last night, but its overcast tonight and also just started raining sleet, so can't see it at all.

My Old telescope was a bit like the one Dutch posted up, was good for upto 180x Magnification, got some good photos of the moon using an old SE K800i phone held upto the eyepiece.

Shame I flogged my telescope, but didn't have room for it when I moved from my ex-wife's.

I have a nice veranda now where my current flat is, be nice to still have it.

here's the picture I took last time with the K800i.

The only downside is the blue halo round it, the limits of the camera phone, I guess.

Doh, looks like overcast skies for me tonight and it's raining at the moment, only 2 degrees above zero which means slick highways at night. I dunno if I'm gonna be able to see the moon.

This evening the moon really did look a lot bigger, even with the eye. But now it looks normal again

It looks like the same moon that has orbited this rock for the past few billion or so years to me

Well, I tried to enjoy it, the -5º weather kind of puts a crimp on sitting still too long though.

boooo I forgot about it until just now and I don't see crap in the sky. I can see stars scattered all over so it's not overcast but it is either beyond the horizon for me or blocked out by all the skyscrapers. Sucks living downtime sometimes.

Clearly this moon was only bigger looking than normal when coming up over the horizon. For what reason that is, I don't know.

The Moon always looks bigger when it's near the horizon. This is because you have other stuff to compare its size with, which you don't when it's high in the sky. The Moon was only 2% closer than its normal orbital perigee, not really anything to get excited about really.

Good thinking.

Really cloudy tonight so it's probably a waste of time trying to see anything.
