That's part of the lack of interest to me, what's the difference between the Ford or Holden V8 supercar? Same engine, same everything. It's only a few suspension geometry differences away from being a one make formula.

The great thing about Bathurst was that it used to be open to all manufacturer's. Not anymore [thumbdown]

Sure it's hard on equipment, but as they are full spec racing cars that share nothing with their production name sakes, who cares?
I guess to each their own. Though the manufacturers don't share the same engine they still at least have the Ford Boss 302 or a Chevy small block. Both racing engines from the US. Though I guess you mean for example all Ford teams would use the Boss 302. Also to keep racing close yes they cripple the cars and make certain engineering rules so the racing is tight. Anyhow times have changed and V8 Supercars is a brand and I guess the Holden vs Ford thing is what brings the money in.

Anyhow I always enjoy watching a good V8 battle as there always a bit of push and shove. It's close racing, and at times amateurish which leads to some exciting moves on the racetrack.

Sorry for the Hijack. But if I made a new thread I knew it wouldn't get many responses anyhow.

Well qualifying only 2.5 hours away! Grill em Webber!

Well P3 was a bit of a damp squib - however if it's still wet then the guys who did the laps will have a definite advantage!

Re: the V8 Supercars, the common parts are the Ford 9" based diff*, the Holinger gearbox* (H or sequential) and the brake packages*.
They use their corporate angines, modified and tuned by different engine builders.
Obviously the external bodies and aero's are different.
Toyota have been expressing interest, using the engine they developed for NASCAR as a base - but hasn't happened, unfortunately!

*Specified in the reg's.

Bum on pole! [thumbup]

Though really pole means sweat FA at Bathurst. Would not surprise me if Lowndes does it again. Anyhow always some hairy moments as they make their way across the mountain.

No. It's now confirmed it will be 4 hours before the race. So I guess count back on your local clocks to work out what time it's on tomorrow. For us in Melbourne that's 12pm.

Webber made one and sailed it down pit lane.

Means you're less likely to be caught up in an early crash - other than that, not that much significance, IMO.

Shame, as if quali was cancelled again Button would be on pole and Lewis second (they do it by car numbers as Martin Whit-marsh said if no quali)

Problem with fan boys only care about their favourite driver doing well even if it means borefest race. I like some drivers/teams more then others but I just like watching a good race regardless of where the driver/team I like finishes, just like good racing to watch.

Damn, was hoping for a wet race just seems to bring more racing action into the mix. Oh well, so much for that.
