leather will wash, but it will almost always shrink a good bit when it dries, and I found out the hard way that leather dosnt always shrink in an even manner. ruined a good leather coat trying to clean it with a hand steamer. cleaned it really well, but as the leather dried the collar on the coat turned hard as a rock and curled up kinda funny. I would get some leather dye, most of which as to be worked in by hand from what I have seen and remember, but its been a while since I have tried to dye any leather. probably better and easier ways to go about it than there was 15 years ago.
