Default washing leather in a washing machine...
hmm,do you think its worth the risk,Ive got some half leather seat covers I wish to wash and then re-dye back to black, but I cant be arsed to remove the leather bits only to stitch them back on again...

whatcha think,if I say washed them at a 40c delicate wash (40c is needed for the dye)

?? any Ideas,or has anyone tried.

I'd check the phonne book for leather working shops, or craft supply shops, and ask them!
If it works, fine - if it doesn't you're out the cost of areplacements.
I expect you'll be OK, but then I've been known to machine wash pure wool jerseys - cold, delicate, slow!

I'm not aware of any dry cleaning companies that offer a dying service.

because i still have to dye them.

as for cost, the covers are gash ones,im changing over my interior you see and these covers will be an experiment, as I have the covers for both front seats, and rear bench seats and the door card inner part thats black.

my interior is grey sports leather, was just thining of doing a DIY bespoke interior.

Dude, the washer will ruin the leather. You should take it to a Dry Cleaners that know how to clean leather. Actually, I need to find one myself for my swede jacket.

Get leather Dye.

leather will wash, but it will almost always shrink a good bit when it dries, and I found out the hard way that leather dosnt always shrink in an even manner. ruined a good leather coat trying to clean it with a hand steamer. cleaned it really well, but as the leather dried the collar on the coat turned hard as a rock and curled up kinda funny. I would get some leather dye, most of which as to be worked in by hand from what I have seen and remember, but its been a while since I have tried to dye any leather. probably better and easier ways to go about it than there was 15 years ago.

The leather might survive the washing, but the drying is the bad part. I almost killed my new wallet by letting it go through the wash, but I thankfully caught it before putting it into the dryer. I let it air dry until it was still damp and then hit it with mink oil, and it's as good as new.
