I have even seen it happen in real life. Its just that finally the prevalence of cameras practically everywhere you walk is making the frequency of such incidents more apparent.

Before, it was just your word against the police (Good luck with that!)

Now the police have to talk real fast to try to convince people that they are not seeing what they think they are seeing. (Good luck with that!)

Im all about respecting the law..but shouldnt cops also? if anyone did that on the streets,we would goto jail with a simple assualt charge,and get 6 months in jail..cops, should never use force when dealing kids.imo,unless they have to protect themselfs..

A normal thing that cops do that bothers me is speeding.

Now I don't care if people speed some, or if they do...but my issue is that they consistently speed, and at a rate they consistently pull others over for.

It really grinds my gears.

Think about it, how often to you see a patrolman in the middle or right lane, going within 5 mph of the speed limit? How often in the left, 10-15mph faster than anyone?

If you live in an area with "fake" speed limits, where everyone is 15mph+ over, this doesn't apply...they also aren't busting everyone.

If you are in a moderately populated area with a tenancy for use of speeding tickets as a major revenue source you know what I mean.

I used to think like this. The last time I thought it was a about two years back. I was driving down our road as a cop rolled on past us so I remark to my wife something along the lines of what makes them think they can drive like that? A minute later we (almost) get home to find that they were responding to a fire at our apartment block. Just because a cop car doesn't have it's lights on doesn't mean it isn't responding to an emergency.

These days we live on the other side of town and every day I drive past the county government center. The Sheriff cars are always driving at a reasonable speed around there. I've never once seen them going 10MPH over the speed limit.

"What is the stopping distance from 70 MPH?" he didn't know so Jeremy says "Its 315 feet" The guy says I'm sure the highway code is correct. Jeremy says "it's wrong.. an aston martin can stop in half that... so why can't aston's go twice the speed limit. :P"

'Cause double the speed quadruples the stopping distance!
About 100mph would be right.

That's actually one of my biggest grievances - why is a beat up old Landrover, with worn drum brakes, tired suspension and crossply knobbly tires "safe" at 100kph (our limit), yet a late model car, with ABS, disc brakes, performance tyres, etc, dangerous at 111 kph (where they start ticketing)?
Heck, I had a (UK spec') Chevette that stopped in under 100ft (seriously!) with warm tyres and brakes from 120kph - non-stock tyres and pads, though! Incredible stopping power and still haven't found a match!


Back on topic - anyone know what happened to the cop?
