Default Why.....
When some people purchase a product, and then the price subsequently drops do they feel they are entitled so some kind of compensation? I was just reading the reviews for an iPhone OS map app and someone thinks they should get a refund because the price has dropped by £10 since they bought it! Um, sorry, no. You obviously thought the price you paid was reasonable otherwise you wouldn't have bought it; the fact that the price dropped subsequently is just unfortunate.

If it dropped like a day later or maybe even a week, by £100 or so I could understand, but for £10. yeah right. [rofl]

Well it was a fairly substantial drop (from £24.99 to £14.99), and I remember the same kind of complaints when they dropped the price of the Sky box, but still I don't think anyone is entitled to compensation either way.

I did once buy a TV from curry's for £300 and the next day it dropped to half the price, so I complained and eventually they gave me back £100.

But they were not happy, but I stood my ground and eventually got back most of the cash.

Bloody stupid though, dropping the price by half and not even telling anyone, cos they must have known when I bought the damn thing, or at least had an inkling that it was gonna drop in price.

while it's good business for a store to make up the difference in this situation, but really it's just business. People feel so 'entitled' about everything these days. Everybody thinks they deserve something for doing absolutely nothing.

Do people feel ripped off when they buy a game for $50 and a year later it's $10?? No! Why does the year matter?

Its just good ethics and shows you appreciate your customers.

After all if you treat them well, they'll keep coming back, But sting them and they'll spend their cash elsewhere.

Yes, because its fun to see a whole third of the price get cut for no apparent reason. Not like it was a £300 gfx card, I can handle that change. If the retailer really wanted to cut the price, they could just do it £3 or something every week

Very true, I never even asked for the refund, I merely enquired why there was such a huge % drop and stated my dissatisfaction, they offered a refund or free next day.
I have ordered like £000's of stuff from them in the past so perhaps that was a factor

Because in their perception, it is not fair that others pay less than they did. It is not logical, that“s just how it is.

People“s price fairness perception is a bitch if you have to decide on price drops.

If you're gonna wait for the price to drop you're never gonna buy anything. That's my motto.

It really depends on how much the price drop is, and how soon after.

e.g - when I spent 1500 euro on my Bravia 2 years ago - the weekend after I bought it the shop I purchased it from did an action where they paid the BTW (tax) which was 19% on all TV purchases.

As the store in question had a 14 day returns policy I went back to the store that weekend and politely asked for the difference back. The alternative was that I returned the TV, then the moment the return had been processed I bought it again at the (lower) action price. For the sake of the hassle of processing a return they agreed to pay me the difference. Apparently a LOT of people had done exactly the same thing.

In this case I saw nothing wrong with doing that. On the other hand when I bought my laptop, it dropped in price by about 100 euro some 1.5 months later. That was simply a case of "oh well" - nothing I can do about it, and nothing I should do about it.
