What I don't get is how you saw that it was "slow" for several months and never did any investigation? Mad Onion Status suspended.

DDR400? WAT DA HEIIIIIL? GET SOM DDR3 SON.

Otherwise, you've been an onion way too long for anyone here to revoke your status. I remember you many years back when I had my old account.

I'm not at my home PC - I've been thinking of asking for help, but the Gigabyte forums are full of people with the same issue and the same chipset combinations.

I upped the NB voltage, relaxed the CAS/RAS/ReCH timings etc - I even followed the SPD timings. I think it's a Mobo issue with the RAM I have.
Have you tried leaving it at that setting and raising the base clock? I had a gigabyte board that refused allowing me to change the NB frequency multiplier, but if I upped the base clock and kept the multi the same then it was fine.

This 939 board is pretty maxed out in every manner - max CPU, max speed on 2 sticks of memory, and nearly max on the AGP. Any desired worthwhile upgrade means a full system overhaul. Honestly, I don't play enough new games or use any power apps that require much more power than what I have, so I'm able to still enjoy this current setup (as long as I don't underclock the parts again [rolleyes]).

Next upgrade is a 24"+ LCD which will probably lead me to buy a new game which will lead me to curse the framerate of this video card which will lead to probably an $800 overhaul.

For months I've been bitching to everyone that my system feels sluggish. I even went so far as to blame Windows 7 and declare that Vista is faster.

Today, by accident, I launched CPUID. Once opened, I got curious and poked around. Under the 'Memory' tab, I noticed that my memory speed was listed as 105 Mhz. How odd. I thought I had better check this in the BIOS. Reboot. Sure enough, my DDR400 has been in DDR200 mode for the past several months.

This is a sad day to pretend to be an Onion. On the plus side, my system feels pleasantly snappy again! [thumbup]

I have an HD3850 AGP for sale. PM me if you're interested or have anything interesting to swap - should be a nice little jump from your 2600.

Default Take away my Onion status. I am not worthy.

You noticed a problem most people wouldn't have a clue of, then used a program most people have never heard of, looked up figures most people wouldn't understand, realised the error where most would be dumbstruck, then fixed it in a way most people would consider pure magic.

You sir, are an Onion damnit!

Still not good enough. I say we banish him to the gametrailers forums!

Changed my mind.

You had a problem that was easy to fix, but you chose to ignore it instead. You accidentally launched a program, one that's not meant for average users to be launched at all even. Then instead of closing it like a good newbie, you decided to 'poke around', despite the sensitive data there. Last but not least, you thought Vista was faster than Windows 7.

GameTrailers ain't good enough. I say you get to spend the rest of your days at Bungle's Home damnit! [cursing]

One or two days is okay but several months? You're demoted and now you have to buy a Dell or HP rig.

Demote you from an Onion? No. But maybe take away your blue text for a while.
