its poopy quality for two reasons:

1) Shutter speed was too low, so you have a ton of camera shake going on.
2) Low light = high ISO - which on a compact digital camera = tons of noise in the image.

Can you not reshoot the shot but with flash? - that will fix both of the problems above.

That image is too far gone to do much with in Photoshop.

Image is too dark (light from windows trick camera sensor)
Resolution is too small to do major repair.
Couldyou redo pic with you camera?

You bought a "new" digital camera and it does not have a flash (and takes shots like the one you posted) ?

If you paid more than a dollar for it you were robbed mate.

a proper expensive one wouldnt.

thats why you tended to have to buy them on pro camera's before digital came out.

do all DSLR's have flashes ?

Do you have option "AUTO" on camera. That option should adjust many important settings.

Some, but not all. Low and mid range Canon DSLRs for example include a (fairly crappy) pop-up flash.

My Canon 30D and 5D MkII do not have inbuilt flash. The idea is that you'd buy an external flash and attached it to the hotshoe on the top of the camera.

Low light situations is where a cheapo camera will really suffer more than usual. In daylight it might not look so bad.
