So many poor countries with building standards from hell. When things like this happen, even the richest countries can be strained, and Haiti was barely able to stand on its own feet even before this happened.

Given the level of poverty, I cant imagine they have the organization, equipment and infrastructure to respond even as effectively as your average kicked-over anthill. This is going to be very very nasty.

If I could get a leave of absence from work, I would gladly head there right now.
