I can't believe that none of my friends want to go and see it [xmasgrumpy]

As a result I think I've probably missed out on my chance of seeing it at the Imax any time soon, so I may pop along to the Vue and catch it this weekend - by myself

I bought 2 tickets in case I can get one of my 'on the fence' friends to join me. Why do my friends suck? [xmassad]

Thankfully I have a good IMAX theater near me, only 5 miles away.

None of my friend are interested in seeing it right away. Then again, they all prefer to wait till it comes to the rinki-dink $2 shows. At that point not only does the seating suck, but the picture and audio do as well. I'd rather pay $6 at block buster to watch it in my house.

The ticket is $12 so its not a bad price.

I really didn't like the look of Avatar from the trailers, haven't seen any reviews (usually avoid them anyway) and no one I know seems that interested in it.

If I miss it at the cinema I'll just hang on and rent the Blu-ray.

I think I'll hold of a bit until it quiets down a bit.

Me and my girlfriend are getting tickets to the 3D IMAX showing here in town for Saturday night. It should be kick-ass!

For anyone who's interested. The main trailer music used, is actually called "My Name Is Lincoln" from "The Island" soundtrack by Steve Jablonsky.

Can someone explain to me the quality of the "Digital 3D" version being shown in equipped theatres (not IMAX, just regular screens)?

I wan tto see it Fri afternoon, but I don't want to wear paper glasses and see a movie in two colors. From what I've heard, more regular style glasses are used and the colors are normal, but I have no personal expereince w/ a 3D movie. Like, if the glasses suck or my eyes get irritated, would the movie still look normal if I took them off?

Thanks in advance for answering my noobage [thumbup]

The system in use by DLP theaters is the same as the IMAX as far as the viewer is concerned.
Both systems consist of two camera's that project the image onto a screen. The viewer uses polarized glasses to get the 3d experience. Colorwise, same colors as viewing a 2d movie.

If you took the glasses off, you'd be seeing double images everywhere. VERY annoying.

The only issue I have with the 3d technology in use is that you can't look everywhere on the screen. The only 3d part that looks right is the where the director intended to the camera to focus. So sometimes its annoying to look at a vista and see double images because the viewpoint is focused elsewhere.

I just cannot gather any enthusiasm for this film......

Its like 2012 and the latest Transformers movie..... All promised to be blockbusters, and both movies that I just could not be bothered to go and see.......

Meh.....

I could be wrong, but I think you should get over that. I myself am really hoping this film blows me away, but yet at the same time I'm not really counting on it.

I don't think this is gonna be anything like the films you mentioned. Anyways I'll see for myself.

Yeah difference is those both had complete **** directors and everyone already knew they would be crap before hand.

This however has a director with a good track record.

Yea, I was about to say the same thing. The other two were simply summer "popcorn" flicks.

Exactly, that and he doesn't just make films on a whim.
