I haven't really had any ridiculous experience with cops. The only time I've been pulled over was for speeding. I was driving back from a friend's place that lives on a large school campus at around 2:00-3:00 AM (that seems to be asking for cop attention alone). I was in the middle freeway lane going about 65-70mph (limit was 65) and I was getting closer and closer to a car, so I went in the left lane to pass, got up to 77mph while passing, which was what he clocked me at and he gave me a ticket...
He did ask if there was a reason I was speeding, and I said "no, not really." I didn't think to say I was passing at the time, not that it would've made a difference. That being said, it was a small city/suburb cop who was given a little jurisdiction over part of a main freeway. This seems to be the kind of cops that are dicks just because they never really have anything important to do. Big city cops are generally a lot more laid back about things like that. I've done a ride along with one, he pulled over a car of four teens who had a tail-light out, even though he found some things he likely could've held them for, he let them go, probably because they were scared out of their minds [rofl]. These kinds of cops witness murder scenes, and often have to fight suspects, so when it comes to things like that, they're a lot more forgiving since they see the bigger picture, and can tell if people are shaken up enough by being pulled over that they'll think twice about doing something, or having something they shouldn't. |
