Default Stick a fork in him.
There are ways of leaving your job gracefully, and then there's this guy.

A nice guy, I have to say, but he just didn't have the skills. We've been carrying him for about five months now, and he's clearly hit his ceiling which is still below what I would call our floor. We work in the lowest barrier drop-in centre/shelter in town, so it's important that our staff are up to the task, if for no other reason than to make sure nobody dies on shift.

So yesterday he's two hours into his eight hour shift and he gets the call to come upstairs. "Thanks for coming out. You can go home now. We'll pay you for the rest of the night." He goes downstairs and leaves.

Four hours pass. He returns to the property, completely tanked, and decides to start rallying some of the more dangerous clients in a chorus of how horrible the administration is. He's drinking and smoking crack with them like they've been best buds for years. It's been less than five hours since he was their support worker.

My co-worker goes out front to try to talk him into leaving the property. He erupts in a screaming fit and throws a mug at my co-worker (his former supervisor). Now he's banned for assault on a staff member.

He refuses to leave. He calls a cab, and then he and two other male clients get in the cab and head (allegedly) to a scummy hotel a few blocks away where we're all assuming they drank and did rock all night, as he and one of the male clients returned to our property in another cab 9 hours later (7am this morning).

We haven't seen him since. I think this may impact our ability to give him a good reference if he looks for another job.

From gainfully employed to unemployed to drunk to assaulting his supervisor to smoking crack to shacking up for the night with two other guys... all in less time than what would have been the duration of his shift last night.

Is this some kind of a record?

You think?

Was wondering how you were getting on at work with all the drama and office politics a few months back - well sorted I trust?

Look, if you want to have someone knocked off, a fork isn't the best way to go. I'll do it, but I'll have to charge more than my normal rate (two grams of crack instead of one). I would recommend a simple shooting instead, where I don't have to get so close to the target. Unless you mean you want the fork stuck in afterwards. I will do that at no extra charge.
