It wouldn't make any difference. You'd just be converting from RGB to component and the quality would just be the same as what ever the RGB is.

Edit: Unless your TV doesn't have an RGB SCART input but does has component.
basically bungly old bean.

what Im doing is this:

running all my AV equiptment through a joy tech av switcher 245c



Running it all through Component so All I'll have connected to the telly is a single Component cable

and If I can do that for me Sky (SD) then that will be a bonus !

the AV switcher has the option for Composite connection but that then means I have to put another cable to the TV if you know what I mean [yes]

and basically as we all know SD picture on a fully HD enabled tv Will always look poo

and in answer to your RGB question:

Q) Will this covert the RGB signal from the scart output from a SKY box to component in on a TV? - Charles
A) yes you can
