Default Going skydiving in June...has anyone done this?
I am going to be 41 in June and I have told my bride and daughter that I want to skydive. They are of course not to keen on the idea, but I am stubborn and told them that I ahve wanted to do this for years. Have anyone here done this and what was it like? Did you tandem jump or by yourself? What was the landing like? Thanks guys.

I think you need to talk to FreeFlyFreak, but I don't think he's been around for ages.

i haven't but have had freinds who have. They all went tandem and said it was great, but suprisingly, none wanted to do it again. If it were me, i would tandem for sure my 1st time, gay as it is, it would be a lot less gay than passing out and dieing. From what my friends said, the landing was fairly smooth, as the chute was controllable and the guy controlling it made it so.

I went when I was 18. I did a tandem jump. The reason I went for a tandem and not on my own was the training. To do a tandem jump I only had to watch a 1 hour video, for a solo jump you had to do about 8 hours (IIRC) of class. Going tandem also allowed me to just enjoy the jump and not have to think about what I was doing. I was actually surprised when the chute came out as I had completely forgot about it. You don't really feel like you are falling until you get close to the ground or when you go through the clouds. While you are free falling, the force of the wind is so great that it almost feels solid.

It was a very cool experience, but it was not an adrenaline rush like I had thought. It was very relaxing. Would I do it again, probably not. When I was 18 I only had myself to worry about, now I have a wife and a baby on the way.

As long as you go to a reputable place you should have nothing to worry about. Have fun on your first jump [thumbup]!

I did the AFF lvl1 for my 30th birthday.

Got the video.

It's definitely a blast and well worth doing at least once in a lifetime.
