Default Holy Crap!!
I know these must be old but at least I hadn't seen some of those takes. Jesus-bloody-Christ! I am not a nervous flyer but I admit that even I would have crapped my pants in one of those landings[surrender]

Some pretty good pilot skills there. [yes]

And some Autopilot skills as well (on the newer planes) Some of the pilots loving the approach button.

If you have ever flown with Ryanair, those sort of landings are pretty standard.

2:20 That was in hamburg, germany last year. Airbus IIRC, flown by a 24 y/o female co-pilot.

both pilots lost their jobs if I remember correctly.

Actually the crosswinds on that runaway on that day were off the scale, well beyond max crosswind limit for that Airbus. The air control guys shouldn't have cleared them for landing on that runaway.

Yeah I was reading that, crazy. Also, the pilot was questioned a lot as to why he aborted the landing (if you can call it that) after the wing had touched the ground. Poor guy, what a life and death decision to take in a split of a second, fortunately he got it right (despite the critics)

I didn't read anything about them losing their jobs though; it's hard to tell without all the facts but I guess that would have been pretty unfair. One begs the question though, Why was the 24yo girl co-pilot landing the plane in such off the scale conditions? It seems to me that even though pilots and co-pilots have the same training standards and "should" be able to performs each other tasks, this particular situation required experience on top of that... she didn't have it[no]

I thought they charged extra for scary crosswind landings that you walk away from.

edit: they charge extra for everything else!
