Default MP3 Player with a timer?
My mum's looking for an mp3 player. She needs one with a sleep timer because she wants to listen to it while she falls asleep and doesn't want it to run continuously. She's been in Currys Digital and John Lewis but they weren't very helpful. Can anyone suggest one?

I got one for Christmas and its an awesome little player, I use it everyday and I only need to charge it once every two weeks or so (the battery life is rated at 24 hours on a full charge). It also has FM Radio, video playback, photo viewer, voice recorder etc. Its also expandable by MicroSD as well, should you need more space.

If you go into the system menu there is a sleep option, and you can program the player to turn off in 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes time.

Looks nice, but apparently the sleep timer won't shut it down if something is playing.

Not sure where you read that, but that is not true. Power saver won't shut it down if something is playing since its there to switch it off when its left in pause mode, but sleep mode will turn it off no matter what.

*sigh*

I own one. It has a sleep timer. It works. It was added in the last firmware update in December.

If you read those threads you linked to you'll notice

a) They are dated November
b) The guy says the POWER SAVER mode does not switch it off, because as I said, it is there to turn the unit off during inactivity.

I see. I'll get her to look at that then. Cheers, everybody.
