So i finally did my taxes today and i found out something very interesting. THey told me that i make to much money and thats why im not getting that much back in my return. I only made just a little over $20,000 and they said since i dont have any kids that is why the i OWE the irs money. 20k isnt alot of money anyway either
Now im saying to myself dont i already pay taxes, why the hell do i owe them more money? And then i think to myself, is it my fault that idiots who dont make alot of money have kids anyway? They should of waited but they chose to have kids, so that shouldnt interefere with what im getting back but apparantly it does. But its not all bad, im getting my stimulus check this year since i didnt file my taxes last year. |

I claim 3 and owe every year Interestingly enough, this year they changed the tax law for head of household/dependants (back to pre 2005 type counting). Finally I can claim my gf and her daughter. This was about $3.5k more back for me. I almost am getting $5k back this year. |

I'll never understand taxes. If I file single I get back like $1,000 less when I claim my education deductions. I hate the government bullshit. Not married? No student loans for you. Not married? Enjoy not getting the full benefit of your deductions.
I've started claiming 3. I'll probably have to pay next year, but at least I'll be able to put it towards bills and it'll ease the cash crunch. I still think they need to completely re-structure the tax system. Our taxes cost us more than our house. Oh yeah.. I'll have to pay the 1% school tax my employer keeps forgetting to take out, AND I'll have to pay a penalty. I work in Indiana, live in Ohio. So I get to pay taxes in 2 states AND I don't get to deduct my taxes in either state from the other. Double dipping is bullshit. If I didn't hate kids so much I'd be a professional breeder. |

If it ever gets restructured, they need to just allow you to have a flat % taken out every pay. Claim 0, they take out far too much. Claim 1 and you end up owing a bit usually. You could be like some people and have no taxes taken out so you put it all in the bank and collect interest and pay at the end of the year, but meh...
