Default It's not my mail, no really, it's not.
I'd like your help in working out if I'm overreacting or not. Today, as per any other day, the mailman delivered our post. Unfortunately he posted a piece of next doors mail by mistake.

We reside in 36, our neighbour resides in 34.

So I merrily make my way next door and post the letter {being the good citizen that I am}.

I potter out for an hour and come home to find that the same piece of mail has been re-delivered through my letterbox with additional biro all over it stating "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS!!!!!"

I stood there in a mini state of WTF, confused as to the nature of this re-re-delivery.

Now I don't know my neighbours name, mainly because it appears to be a holiday home so I've seen them once or twice in the last Month but I'm not illiterate and my numeracy is adequate and the letter clearly states it's for number 34 regardless of recipient.

So I took the letter, walked over the gardens and threw it at their front door and went home.

I'm still quite angry, well not angry, just a little perplexed.

I used to get my neighbors mail all the time. I also once had a sherriff deliver some court crap to my house 3 years ago and he didn't knock or anything, just left it in the hall where the kids who were playing could have easily taken it.

Did the name on the letter actually correspond with the name of the person who lives at 34?

If not, maybe thats why they posted back into your address.

Even if it didn't, why would you give it to the neighbor? Bob doesn't live at 34 Whatever St., which is where this letter is addressed. Please give it to Tom over at 36.

Now that you know, he can't accept it and must insist that it be yours!

It was nice of you to hand the mail to the proper address in the first place, but after that you both acted a little immature. Would it have been so hard to place it into a mailbox now that it had, not at this address?
