I started a thread on this subject several weeks ago when it all began, and many opinions were heard. [yes] Now the courts have spoken, and the case moves on...... EDIT: New information link added. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/352993_msftvista28.html?source=mypi MORE details: http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/archives/132891.asp |

The only thing that's going to come out of this is that things are going to have even more fine print on them. "This Coffee is hot!" wow who knew... Just change it to 'Vista should boot on this computer.' Thats what it'll say. MS sells a stripped down vista, which is called "Vista"!!! So guess what, my machine is vista capable, even though its a DX8 GPU so no glassy interface, but it'll still run it. I think the class action lawsuit should fail. However, MS should have released a single version of Vista, just as Apple released a single version of OS X, and they just keep updating that version, 10.x..... |

than they pull the crap of making 5 to 6 version of Vista... what was they thinking!? [rofl] yeah, make your money... but pls maintain some consistancy in your direction! |

Leopard, 10.5 only runs on 800mhz machines and faster. but the graphical differences are non-existant, though its quite a bit slower with a R7500 than with the newer cards. Runs fine on my G4 Mirror door (1.25ghz x2, 2gb ram, R9000) |

Wouldn't this be an issue with the manufacturer? Unless of course Microsoft was the one doing the determining.
I honestly think the consumers have a point. Vista = Aero. Without the fancy interface its just a bloated crappy version of XP. If the PC can't run Aero, then I really don't think they should be putting a "vista ready" sticker on it. Altho I don't really think these people should be getting upset. For the most part Vista sucks. Getting pissed about not being able to run vista at full settings is like complaining that weatherbug doesn't eat enough resources. |

They had two stickers I believe; Vista Capable and Vista Premium. Thats where I think the confusion stemmed from. Either way, all people had to do was a little reading to know the difference. [rolleyes] This is a waste of time and money. The lawsuit is definitely a waste of time and money, as the people who got confused by the whole issue won't get anything anyway. I've seen what happens in those stores. Went along with a few family members. Not only are those stickers useless because the average Joe will assume it means it'll run the Vista they see on every machine in the store the sales people are assclowns. They're so full of misinformation it makes me want to vomit. They're either stupid, or they're lying to make a buck. |

They're so full of misinformation it makes me want to vomit. They're either stupid, or they're lying to make a buck. This is true. A quick google and I was able to determine what I need. If the average Joe cant do that, or doesn't understand something simple like that, they don't need Vista let alone Aero! It was a lame tactic by MS/Retailers for sure, but they did nothing legally wrong ![]() |

If I was the lawyer, I would go after them for "material misrepresentation" or something along those lines. It would probably be one of my best chances at a win..or even better, a settlement. |

I don't think they would have a leg to stand on. Vista Home Basic is Vista. Plain and simple. It will run Vista exactly like they claimed it would. If you want premium, you'll need one with a "Vista Premium" sticker. |

And now, other information appears That will almost certainly become pertinent in the suit.

And now, other information appears That will almost certainly become pertinent in the suit. "I know that I chose my laptop (a SONY TX770P) because it had the Vista logo and was pretty disappointed that it not only wouldn't run Glass, but more importantly wouldn't run Movie Maker," Nash wrote. "I now have a $2,100 e-mail machine." A microsoft exec bought a $2100 laptop based on the vista capable sticker?... That's not an Intel 915 chipset issue if you ask me [rofl] Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the average joes walking into their local electronics store hoping for a decent all-rounder PC/laptop and not getting what they expected, but surely an MS exec should have known better? |
