Default Getting weird messages from a YouTube user
The other day I noticed I had a message on YouTube. I hardly ever get messages on youtube, and if I do; it's usually someone trying to get me to join their channel or whatever but this one seems more direct.
I'll copy & paste the conversation from the messages (he seemed to keep sending more messages incase I hadn't recieved a previous one).

HIM
ME

enjoyed your films - im starting a project this year locally and wondered if you lived in Herefordshire or Worcestershire - those are the keywords by which I found you.
cheers

Worcestershire, but I am soon leaving the country for a year.

roughly when are you going and what you up to?

did you get reply - was wondering what you are doing and when you are going ? cheers

Why do you want to know?

im a bbc documentary maker - im looking for people who are making their films in worcestershire for a project im putting together - its all about families and i thought if you where going away travelling I wonder how that was with your nearest and dearest - anyway if you interested to know more I can be reached at howard.belgard@bbc.co.uk - cheers

sorry this messaging system keeps eating my replies - did you get last reply that Im BBC Doc maker looking for people in Worcestershire?

as i said - about family in all its different shapes and sizes - my email is howard.belgard@bbc.co.uk if youre interested in talking more - if not no worries

Yes I got your messages. So what kind of documentary are you trying to make?

I dunno what to make of these messages? I don't meet people I've spoke to online, but perhaps he does have a legit BBC email address?
In any case I'm prob just gonna ignore him from now on, but was wondering what anyone else thought?

At the moment I'm thinking this ...

IF you dont trust emailing that address, just call the BBC up and they should be able to confirm what he is saying.

A quick Google search of "Howard Belgard BBC" later and it looks like a Howard Belgard does in fact work for the BBC, and works on articles pertaining to Hereford and Worcester.

That you're a paranoid *******. :P But I know why you were worried, people can believe that someone else would give a toss.

Next ask him if his email account is hacked.

Yeah it could well be legit, media companies have been contacting people through YouTube. Back when I was living in England the department I worked in had a YouTube account and we were contacted by Endemol through that account regarding the use of someones Big Brother fan video. I think maybe they'd liked the idea of a fan video produced by someone with a learning difficulty.

Don't forget to wear clean underwear when you go to meet him.

Nothing turns me off more than dirty underwear on MY victims....
