Default So i watched Death Proof last night,..
Geesh that was a horrible piece of crap !!!
I canīt understand how/why anybody would say the movie was great.
I mean geesh talk about a waste of talent.
The movie was boring, the action was lame (what 2 lame ass action scenes carry the whole damn movie), the dialogs were totaly stupid, the movie is set in 2007 but made to look like a damn 70s movie ? wtf ?
Some mentioning of weed here and there, a little splatter,.. What a cheap try (that sadly works) to make the movie a little more appealing to the "teens".
I canīt remember the last time i got up from watching a movie just being pissed that i wasted my time watching it.
Thanks alot Tarantino,..

I thought it was just average. IMO the way of telling the story was quite nice.. clearly tarantino style.. but some parts where lame and had no point of being in the movie.
Also in the beginning it was black&white IIRC or maybe sepia with old camera effect, and then halfway it changed to normal .

And the plot sucked

Yeah Planet Terror was better, Death Proof felt like something I'd already watched before 30 years ago, except not being quite as good this time around...!

Probably a 6/10 movie..?, I think Tarrantino should go back to doing what he does best e.g Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill etc.

Imo it was entertaining enough for a 6/10. Planet Terror though, that's the film of the year. 2 hour+ of pure awesomeness.

I felt the same way about that one. Whereas Planet Terror was entertainingly cheesy and funny, I thought Death Proof was a snorefest. And most of the "cinephiles" seemed to universally praise it as the better of the Grindhouse films.

Whether you 'get it' or not there's no escaping the movie was below average, the long drawn out, pointless conversations may be a Tarantino trademark, but he's done it to death.

Planet Terror on the other hand is a fun movie, check out stuff like Death Race 2000 for the real deal.

The movie is a masterpiece. It's the dialogue. You want an "action" movie watch Rambo or Rocky.

reactivator, wouldn't you agree?

I agree on the dialogue part..a couple of times there's like 5-10min non-cut shooting, which was a positive thing IMO

I think it's one of the lesser Tarantino movies but I utterly loved it. I was sceptical the first time I saw it but then I enjoyed it more and more the next couple of times I re-watched it.

I agree that the dialogue is what Tarantino does best, but Death Proof was really his poorest effort.

Sitting through those girls arguing for what felt like a half hour about what they were going to do with the car was excruciating. I checked my watch during that, and that's something I almost never think to do in a movie.

I will never, never, never, never, never, never watch Death Proof and Planet Terror in their current state. Having missed the movies in the theaters (heresy, I know), I refuse to see the movies split up on DVD without all of the trailers in between.

Really what I'm waiting for is an HD-DVD release (Dimension = Weinsteins = HD-DVD only) of the movies in their original theatrical presentation, complete with the trailers. And really, the wait is nearly killing me. I love Rodriguez's movies (have been a faithful follower since El Mariachi) and Tarantino, well, he's a given. So, to not have seen either of these movies is an atrocity upon myself, having been brought on by questionable business practices. [xmassad]

I know this strays terribly from the main topic, but I felt the need to add my $0.02. [xmaslaugh]

What did you not get about the title 'Grindhouse' for these films?

Honestly, to watch this movie and to actually be surprised that it's an homage to a 70's type of movie is downright comical.

And how the hell am i supposed to know that "Grindhouse" means anything other than being a stupid title ?
btw, the 70s touch was far from being the worst part of this crap.
