Default LP- Minutes to Midnight
So...anyone else listen to it yet? I've listened to it a few times, and to be honest, the first time around was probably enough. There's only two or three (three is probably stretching it) songs I actually like. [thumbdown] "What I've Done" doesn't even count as a song to me, as it has been played so often on the radio here I can't even listen any more. It started out strong and I had my hopes up during the first song, "Given Up" but then it just seemed to lose steam and tail off from there. Their other albums were better...MUCH better. Here I am, expecting it to sound like Linkin Park, and does it sound like them? Not really. They've really changed the style of music compared to their previous albums, and IMO they were better before. I guess if I want a LP fix I'll be listening to Meteora, Reanimation, or Hybrid Theory.

Edit: I just realized this...it is very fitting that my favorite song was "Given Up" as that's what they've done. They gave up.

Yeah, the single on the radio that sounds exactly like every other linkin park song, especially the one with the lyrics "I've become so numb". Seriously man, get some strepsils, your throat must be red raw!

I'm huge LP fan too and I'm VERY dissapointed that they moved from their original sound to "1_in_a_million" rock band... I mean that was the thing what made it so different and good... I will propably get this CD too but I know from the first single already that this one doen't even get close to the previous ones...

I am still hoping they are doing a new coke.

Making an album that many dislike and then, a few months later releasing another album which goes back to their original sound.

Such a way with words...

Why would they go back? They're cashing in on post-rock sensibilities; much more lucrative than nu-metal these days.

Did I insult your mum or something?

Anyway, of course I don't believe they would actually go back. I was merely expressing my dislike for their new album.

What original sound ? All their songs sound the same from the first album to the last, heard them all, saw them live 2 years ago at Download, walked out after 10 minutes.

Waste of time.

I think for a 'top 40' rock album its quite good.

A mate of mine came to me and said 'its crap cause its all soft, theres no heavy stuff on it etc etc' ... but to be honest who the hell is going to want to put LP on if your in the mood to head bang there are much better bands for that, I think that their sound is best when its playing on the melodic groove thing rather than 'heavier' stuff.

I totally agree. Their softer stuff is actually my favorite aspect of the band.

I saw them about 5 years ago in concert, and thought they were alright. I have to say I like this new album quite a bit. [thumbup]

I like it, its got alot more depth to it than the poppy nu metal crap that they generally do.

Nothing major original but it takes balls to try it and its done well.

there is still some heavier stuff on there. no more sorrow must be about the heaviest stuff they done. the soft stuff is done well, i just think they could have put more on the album. they wrote so many songs and only chose these 12.

The more I listen to it the more I think it is alright. Nothing special really, but not as bad as I first thought. I guess it kind of grew on me a bit.

I have it and listened to it a little bit. So far i really don't care for it that much. It's not what i was expecting from LP. They take so long it seems to release a cd then this is what we get [thumbdown] I'm still willing to really listen to it a few times then i'd be a better judge. I really like LP so i'm willing to give it a chance.

For people who hate this album, Thrice do this type of music much more effectively. It's actually embarassing how much better "Vheissu" is in comparison.

Did I insult your mum or something? You just come up with some of the strangest, and often completely illogical analogies i've ever heard.

Wife just bought this cd... waaaayyyy to mellow for my tastes, LP was never really a hardcore metal band or anything but this new cd is just bleck.

Like most here, I felt the same at first about the new album, disappointed.

I've listened to it a few times now though and its grown on me and to be honest it is probably some of the best music they have ever produced. Its got more depth and variety to it than their previous work.

IMO I think it'll grow on some people after a few listenings but others who were expecting something similar to their last work and nothing else may never like it.
