i always think dried meat is already starting to rot...

so is it soft then or rather hard to chew on?

i also like these small sausages you can get in "Metro" or "real"

they are almost like cabanossi, similar to Bifi

Well Beef Jerky isn´t really that unhealthy (sure it´s not that healthy either),
but it´s rather low on calories, so just what i need before and after visiting the fitness-studio.
See my post about the sodium for evidence otherwise.

I´m still using the oven. Deyhdrators are kinda expensive over here.
If you have family still over here I would see about getting someone to send you one over. Its alot easier and less time consuming than using the oven. It also makes better jerky. Even the cheapest ones beat using the oven.

And you can use it for all kinds of things. Dried fruit is awesome. You can make fruit rollups for the little guy. My kids loved those.

As far as sodium content...if you make your own you wont have that problem.
