Default Myspace: FF and IE, my profile looks different?
So my profile looks fine in Firefox... Great even. But in IE the text on the left is all bunched up and you have to scroll down the whole page to see most of it.
I've tried tables, but to no avail...

Is there some magical pieces of code to put into my profile so it looks normal in IE like I see it in FF ?

Welcome to the world of browser interpretation. And no, there's no magic bullet to make things always look the same in different browsers. And guess what? When you get it looking just right in Firefox and IE, it'll probably look odd in Opera. Royal pain sometimes.

Looks to me like some of your table cell widths might be set wrong. So while Firefox is happily expanding cell widths to fill out the table, IE isn't.

Right, well as long as it looks good in FF and IE, Opera can get screwed.
lol.

I'm not a good HTML coder, or even semi-knowledgeable.

Can someone write me the beginning and end codes that I should put in each section? I'm pretty sure it should be 400px wide... please?

I've noticed similar problems before, but its usually been FF that had the problems, I too tried changing tables and the like, but didn't help so just found a new template and worked on that.

IE and FF parse CSS differently.

I know exactly what you mean... that's why I don't have a layout anymore, just plain boring myspace colors [thumbdown]

ive never used myspace so not to sure wether this would even help or not but when doing webpages i always stick it through w3 validator... most the time it fixes any browser differences...

If you are having problems with tables have you tried setting doc type to HTML 3.2? Seems to respond better to table formatting esp. in firefox.

I hate the profiles where people make them semi transparent and put 500 pictures that are entirely too wide all over them.

just had a quick look in FF, IE & opera, and imo it looks better in FF/opera (looks the same with those 2) than IE

That's the point that someone else was making it's CSS, Microsoft/IE doesn't implement all of the CSS standards and refused to do so in IE7 cos they think CSS is flawed (I guess that's what they thought about Java too) and mixing DIV and TABLES is surely asking for unnecessary trouble.
