A week and half later, that report hit Howell's desk.

Not so different than the reusage of shaman urine in old siberian cultures to avoid the unpleasant effects of toadstool. However, you do end up with a less pure product because of urine salts and acids. But all in all, it's consumable, but it's probably very stupid to IV unless you want gout.

However that article is just another piece of sensationalistic journalism.

And DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine) is found in the urine of all people, it's a metabolic product of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine). Chemical names included to clarify the relationship Schizophrenia is still believed to be a dopaminergic problem, which has been supported by the massive success of antidopaminergic drugs. Besides, DMT intoxication in no way resembles schizophrenia.

Sounds like a dodgy hypothesis to me. I see no reason why your own urine would be less toxic than someone elses were you so inclined to try and drink any of it.
