For my leaving thread

Let me explain, i just had a accident and the police said its my fault
i came from the right side, and we here in holland go first , so i slamed into the car,

because i thought the guy stopped but clearly he didn't

he got out of his car we got into a fight... pulling and treating and all, then he left.
police arrived takes notes i got called : Police, yea you should not take priority if its not possible!

I mean WTF !? i was almost over the half of the street what did i need to do ?!

Idk what to say, I think in some situations it could hold truth... I mean, yeah you got right off way but not if the car was doing 50km and there is no indication the driver seen you well then I could imagine a cop witnessing it first hand saying something like that but still that driver is the first one committing a traffic violation... But I seen people coming out off an alley with 50km onto a street where yeah they come from the right but have no sight or nothing enough to properly determine if their actions are not going to kill somebody... Know what I mean?

But I'm sure you're a cautious driver [thumbup]

draw out a solid diagram explaining the situation very clearly. Use a PC...even a crappy one using powerpoint will help.

I did this for my gf and got charges dropped instantly. I did this for my self and got it dropped to a no fault.

You should have simply told the cop that you are sorry, but you react a bit too slowly when you are high + you weren't familiar enough with the car, as you just stole it 10 minutes earlier, hence why you couldn't come to a complete halt from doing 160km/h.

Maybe he did took the time, when he was severely emotional under the sircustances.. He wasn't himself he took his anger/frustration out on here..

Come on, don't be an arse, he has had a hard day, and he even appologised for being a ****, explaining the reasons behind it, what more do you want? We all had shitty days, and we all know that we tend to react badly on those, and that such reactions aren't only limited to RL situations.

Hang on, hold the phone, back it up a tad.....

The guy leaves the scene, no evidence to put you at blame, seeing as the police weren't there when the fight was going on, and you get blamed.........

The guy did a runner, assaulted you, he was stopped, but pulled out sharply as you were turning and braked right in front of you.........

It's true that even if you have right of way you should be careful and make sure you actually get right of way from the other person: if you don't, you should stop. Of course, if you're already halfway across the crossing there's not much you can do about it; perhaps the policeman didn't actually mean to blame you (it can't be blamed on you if the other person's the offender) but just made the comment.

As a fellow motor cyclist you probably knew this already though.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your car accident! I take it you're not hurt yourself, but how's the car? Insurance covering it?
