OK so we all know that in college there are some pretty strange classes that cover non conventional topics or classes that are just taken so you can get your credit load up. What have you guys taken?
A year ago I too a class called "Power of Music." It was all about music and it's effects on us. To tell you the truth, I hardly learned a darn thing in the class and it was almost all opinions and pointless discussion. The only interesting thing I learned was that plants grow better when they are within range of certain selections of music and they are inhibbited in their growth by rock music. (Google it to find out more). Next semester I'm taking a class called "Leadership at your University." Should be interesting. "Introduces leadership using a personal leadership framework. Students examine their own views on leadership. Differences between personal/positional leadership, characteristics of leaders within the University, importance of personal development." |

I took this class here at UC Berkeley called Ethics in Medicine, and every week we would have a guest lecturer. The final class lecture were two famous porn stars. One was Nina Hartley, and the guy I cannot remember his name. Something like Ron Pachenko, or something like that. Anyhow, they talked about the porn industry and their experiences in it. Some students got disgusted and walked out during the middle of the lecture. Most of us stayed and listened. It was very interesting, and Nina Hartley is a funny and down-to-Earth woman in real life. Somehow they don't look as hot as they do in the videos.

I haven't really taken any strange classes, but I want to take "Robots, Monsters and Cyborgs" for my literature credit. Well... maybe CSCI 1901 was strange just because they made us use Scheme, which is a totally pointless language. |

The only interesting thing I learned was that plants grow better when they are within range of certain selections of music and they are inhibbited in their growth by rock music. That's completely opposite to what they found out in Mythbusters. The plants actually grew the best when being played either heavy metal, or classical music. Pop music made them grow the slowest, and with no music/sound playing, they actually died during the test
